Whether we are preteens or in our fifties, we all take a bit of flak for liking anime. Now, kids have it a bit easier, since anime is considered childish and it’s okay for kids to like it, but their parents won’t take it seriously. As for us adults, we just get looks and the “Uh-huh, what are you, five?” stares. So this is a book for all of us who’ve ever had to defend anime to our peers, fought long and hard to get manga accepted as a literary source, or convinced our parents that anime is no different from the stuff they already let us watch on TV.
Hopefully I’ll give you some good tips and ammunition to counter the stupid questions and stares, as well as open your eyes to why those on the other side (those anime illiterates) think the way they do. Not all of us grew up in the age of internet and more than three TV channels.
